FAQ About GemTrace

Why didn't my jeweler tell me about GemTrace?

That fact is that until recently is was not possible to determine the registered owner of a diamond based on the inscription located on the girdle edge of a diamond.  GemTrace is a new service which provides a correlation between the information inscribed on the girdle edge of a diamond and the registered owner.  Please tell your jeweler about GemTrace so that our service can be shared with other clients!

Why didn't my insurance agent tell me about GemTrace?

GemTrace is a relatively new concept and your local insurance agent might not yet be aware of it.  We expect that GemTrace will become very well known within the diamond industry, law enforcement and insurance industries; but until then we need your help to spread the word, so please tell your insurance agent about GemTrace!

GemTrace is not a form of insurance and we do not sell insurance of any kind.  GemTrace is a system designed to provide a correlation between the information laser inscribed on the girdle edge of a diamond and the registered owner of that gem.  We recommend that you obtain an insurance policy to provide financial protection in the event that your diamond, colored gem, or jewelry item is lost or stolen.
